Liquor Store POS FAQ | mPower Beverage

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the questions liquor store owners ask before making a switch.

Before You Switch

Can I use my current POS hardware?

Probably. mPower runs on standard Windows POS hardware — touchscreens, receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, and ID scanners. If your equipment is reasonably current and Windows-based, there’s a good chance it works.

We’ll check your specific setup during the demo process and let you know if anything needs upgrading. No surprises after you’ve signed up.

How long does setup take?

Most single-store setups are live within a few weeks. Multi-location rollouts take longer depending on the number of stores and the complexity of your data.

The timeline depends on data migration, staff training, and how quickly you want to move. We work at your pace — some stores want to go fast, others want to run parallel systems for a while. Either way, we handle the heavy lifting.

Can you migrate my data from my current system?

Yes. We migrate your product catalog, vendor information, customer data, and historical sales from most major POS systems. We’ve done this hundreds of times and know where the tricky spots are.

The goal is that when you go live, your system already knows your store. Your 3,000 to 25,000+ SKUs, your vendors, your pricing — all there on day one.

Are there long-term contracts?

We’ll talk specifics during the sales process, but here’s our philosophy: we’d rather earn your business every month than lock you into a contract you resent. We’ve been doing this for 15+ years, and the stores that stay with us stay because the software works and the support is real — not because of a penalty clause.

How It Works

Does mPower handle case breaks?

Yes. This is one of the things that separates liquor store POS from generic retail POS. When you receive a case of 12 and sell it as individual bottles, the system tracks both. Buy in cases, sell in units, and your inventory stays accurate without manual math.

Case pricing, split-case pricing, and mix-and-match promotions all work the way a liquor store expects them to.

How does age verification work?

When a cashier scans an alcohol product, the system prompts for ID verification. Scan the barcode on the back of the customer’s driver’s license, and the system reads the date of birth automatically. Pass or fail — instant and logged.

The prompt can’t be skipped without a manager override, and every scan and override is recorded in an audit trail. Learn more about compliance features.

Can I manage multiple locations from one system?

Absolutely. Whether you have 2 stores or 70, mPower lets you manage inventory, pricing, transfers, and reporting across all locations from a single interface. You can see what’s happening at every store without driving between them.

Transfer stock between locations, compare performance side by side, and set location-specific pricing when different markets require different strategies.

Does mPower integrate with QuickBooks?

Yes. Sales data syncs to QuickBooks Online automatically. Daily summaries, tax breakdowns, and payment method splits flow into your books without manual journal entries. Your accountant will thank you. See all integrations.

After You’re Live

What kind of support do I get?

Real support from real people who know your store. Not a chatbot. Not a ticket queue that takes three days. When you call, you get a person who understands liquor retail and can actually help.

Our support team is US-based and knows the mPower system inside and out. Most issues are resolved on the first call. If something needs engineering attention, we escalate it and follow up — you don’t have to chase us.

How are software updates handled?

Updates are pushed automatically with minimal disruption. We don’t ask you to download installers or coordinate your own upgrades. When there’s a new feature or a fix, it shows up in your system.

Major updates come with documentation and, when needed, a quick walkthrough from our team. We don’t change your workflow without telling you about it first.

Can I access my system remotely?

Yes. The mPower Web Office runs in any browser — laptop, tablet, or phone. Check sales, review reports, manage inventory, and handle back-office tasks from anywhere. No VPN required, no special software to install.
